Merino is coming, merino is coming!

See the big wooly pile on the ground? That's the merino fleece my parents scored in Kauai. You can see an arm in there for size reference.

I am totally doing this without permission but here is the email I got from my mom. I just loved reading it. Thanks mom and dad!

"Okay....we "sheep'd" the sheep today by FedEx and you should get it "in 2 days." You will laugh at the packaging as 2 of us practically sat on the box. Let me know when you get it and if it's worth getting more. It will probably expand quite a bit upon opening so consider yourself warned. Baa, miss ewe! Love, Maaaa"

Your mom gets it!! Very cool! My mom is kind of surprised by the whole thing. She'll ask, are you still spinning? And I can hardly believe she doesn't know I'm thinking about it practically all the time. But she's not a knitter, either.

Take pictures! I want to see that fiber expanding out of the box. Your mom's email is so cute! I'm totally jealous that your parents live in Hawaii.

That is just about the sweetest email ever!

My mom doesn't get me either. She gives my handmade gifts to her away (think hand woven silk/cotton/rayon blend shawl given to a blanket drive-I totally would have woven a washable blanket if she had asked, but she just gave it away) I no longer give her handmade gifts.

At least my mom LOVES her handknit socks and keeps the afghans in the den, where they do get used. I've reheeled both of her socks from last spring and hope she will keep asking me to do so! I also made her the incredibly complex "Love Stamp" socks by PG-R a few years ago and know they've been worn. Yay!

You have such awesome parents! I second that you should take pictures of it expanding.
